Artist Statement

A look at grief.  When one leaves a long term relationship, the other is left to grieve at the loss of rituals such as breakfast at the table.  She too must leave the table, and come back with a new ritual that encompasses completeness in breakfast for one. 

I thought of musical notes now missing: the clink of the spoon against the coffee cup, the scrape of the chair, the baritone cough.  I thought about what now must come, a determination to continue and write a new song.

Artist Statement:

The artist thinks about God as engaged in a journey towards the incarnation and so pictures an unravelling. “When I consider the wild, untameable nature of God, the enormity of creation, what effort the unravelling of the Godhead it must have been! God reduced beginning redemption as one cell in a human being. We think of Jesus suffering on the cross, but I think his suffering started at that point of laying aside his power for us”.

Artist Statement

Soul Journeys

How well do we journey with this elusive part of us, our soul? At times does it crave an escape from the rat race of work, family, and commitments? Does it look for a place of shelter now and again, to stop, rest and catch its breath?

Our life is a map, well used, worn with coffee stains and walking tracks where we meet ourselves and others on our journey. Some tracks come in from outside and leave, some stay, some are our family and friends and some are from within us. At times we are called to the quiet journey of the soul; we walk the ancient labyrinth to come to a place of meditation, prayer, restoration and rest for the soul.
